Accessibility in public procurement

As a public institution, the Jagiellonian University is obliged to ensure accessibility for persons with specific needs by applying universal design or reasonable accommodations (Article 4(1) of the Act of 19 July 2019 on ensuring accessibility for persons with specific needs).

This obligation is also binding in case of entrusting tasks to external providers.

‘When, based on a contract, public tasks funded from public sources are carried out by, or public contracts are outsourced or entrusted to, non-public entities, public bodies shall be obliged to specify in the contract the conditions that ensure accessibility for persons with specific needs as regards such public tasks or public contracts, taking into account the minimum requirements referred to in Article 6.’ (Article 4(3))

The JU Accessibility Centre offers assistance as regards the description of the contract object in terms of its accessibility. Each University unit that plans to launch a public procurement procedure and wonders whether and how to draft relevant provisions of the conditions of the participation in it can approach the Centre in order to consult them with our experts.
