Training offer

Training offer

The Jagiellonian University Accessibility Centre is a place that supports persons with diverse needs, compiles knowledge on how to do so, and is willing to share it. That is why we invite all interested parties, both those who teach and those who perform other tasks in the university space, to keep in touch with us, to report their needs and to participate in the events we prepare.

We also invite those who would like to speak individually with specialists from the Accessibility Centre to contact us.

If you are interested in our training offer, please contact the trainer: malgorzata.perdeus-bialek@uj.edu.pl

Training for teaching staff

We provide training courses as part of our day-to-day activities and projects implemented by us and by other units. These classes cover general topics, such as building disability awareness, non-oppressive language and other principles of consensus-building contact, as well as specific topics on the difficulties of functioning in a disadvantaged space for persons with diverse needs.

We invite practitioners for training and one-to-one meetings on topics including:

  • Disability awareness, skills facilitating direct contact with persons with disabilities and the arrangements in place at the University
  • Working and teaching with the needs of persons with different types of disabilities (e.g. sight, hearing, mental health and the autism spectrum) in mind
  • Adapting teaching materials to the needs of persons with visual disabilities
  • Use of computer applications to meet the needs of persons with disabilities
  • Tools and solutions to support persons with specific learning difficulties
  • Physical (architectural) accessibility for persons with specific needs
  • Evacuation of persons with disabilities.

It is possible to organise training in response to the needs of a group of employees who wish to learn about a specific topic. The timing and form of the training (on-site, remote) will be tailored to the capabilities and expectations of the participants.

Training for non-teaching staff

For many years, we have been active in creating a working environment and improving our offerings to take into account the expectations of persons with diverse needs. We invite you to training courses and consultative sessions that will help you respond on a day-to-day basis to new challenges arising from changes in current legislation that impose new responsibilities.

We invite you to training courses covering the following topics:

  • Disability awareness, skills facilitating direct contact with persons with disabilities and the arrangements in place at the University
  • Working and teaching with the needs of persons with different types of disabilities (e.g. sight, hearing, mental health and the autism spectrum) in mind
  • Non-oppressive disability language building understanding
  • Disability savoir-vivre
  • Organising accessible events
  • Serving persons with disabilities - practical tips for accessible secretariats and deaneries
  • Creating accessible social media
  • Preparing videos that take into account the needs of persons with disabilities
  • Evacuation of persons with disabilities
  • Creating accessible texts and presentations.

Training sessions are held in consultation with participants - on-site in the workshop room of the JU Disability Centre or remotely on the Teams app. You are welcome to contact us.

E-learning trainings on the University’s Moodle platforms

We invite you to become familiar with the material available on the Krakus platform. As part of the project Responsible Support and Sustainability, we offer e-learning courses for the University’s staff on Evacuation of Persons with Disabilities and Disability Awareness.

We warmly encourage you to take part in the training.

The e-learning training consists of two thematic blocks:

Evacuation of Persons with Disabilities course

Participation in the course will enable you to gain knowledge on how to respond and assist persons with disabilities in a fire emergency among members of the JU community and make them feel safer. The course provides model examples and guidance to assist during an evacuation and also points out the solutions already in place at the University. The course is hosted on the Moodle platform and takes approximately 30 minutes.

Disability Awareness course

Participation in the course will enable participants to learn how to shape the academic environment to make it accessible to persons with disabilities. Participants will learn how to include, rather than exclude, persons with specific needs in the mainstream of academic and social life. It is extremely important at the University that the learning processes and academic procedures created take into account the needs of persons with disabilities and allow them to pursue their studies or research on an equal basis with others. Course participants will also learn how they can support persons with specific needs in their communities and where to get information on their questions. The course is hosted on the Moodle platform and takes approximately 30 minutes.
