Educational Assistant

Educational Assistant

Students of the Jagiellonian University whose specific needs make it necessary for them to receive direct support from another person in the educational process are encouraged to use the offer of an educational assistant.

To take advantage of the assistant’s support you should:

  1. make an appointment for a consultative session with an education accessibility specialist
  2. provide a document describing your health circumstances (e.g. a certificate of diagnosis of the autism spectrum or daily functional difficulties, a disability certificate)
  3. submit an application for the assignment of an educational assistant for the academic year
An educational assistant will be assigned as soon as possible.
During the consultative session, the student has the opportunity to discuss with the education accessibility specialist the range of situations in which the support of an assistant would be advisable.
Depending on the needs of the student, the scope of the educational assistant’s responsibilities may include:
Educational support
  • note-taking
  • laboratories
  • examinations
  • assistance in work organisation
  • monitoring current academic situation
Technical and organisational support
  • technologies
  • support in obtaining materials
  • instruction in moving around JU buildings
Support in social contacts
  • with lecturers
  • with the administration
  • with other students
If a student has a personal assistant (e.g. from the Municipal Welfare Centre) who accompanies him/her to classes, please report this so that the assistant (an outsider) can be allowed into the University buildings.
