About the DARE projects

Under its previous name (DSS – Disability Support Service), the Jagiellonian University Accessibility Centre delivered three editions of the DARE (Disability Awareness - a New Challenge for Employees) projects: DARE, DARE 2 and DARE-Learning.

  • The DARE project (2007–2009) developed training courses for University teachers in the area of disability awareness. They were offered in four languages and the project partners were the University of Padua (Italy), Learning Difference Ltd (UK), Fepamic (Spain) and Euroinform Organisation (Bulgaria)
  • The DARE 2 project (2009–2011), in which they were joined by the University of Iceland from Reykjavik and Association for Adult Learning from Cyprus
  • DARe-Learning project (2011–2013) - which developed e-learning training courses designed for University teachers wishing to improve their professional competences in the education of students with disabilities. Their aim was to provide participants with knowledge about disability and its impact on the functioning of persons with disabilities at the University. The e-learning courses complemented group workshops to build disability awareness. The project partners were Peter and Marie Curie University in Paris (France), Charles University in Prague (Czech Republic) and Aristotle University in Thessaloniki (Greece)

As part of its activities over past years, the JU Accessibility Centre (then JU DSS) organised the following conferences:

  • Persons with Disabilities in Knowledge Society, 20 January 2006 - Inclusion of the Disabled in the Open Labour Market (IDOL) project
  • Disability Awareness - New Challenges for Education, 22–23 October 2009 - DARE project
  • Breaking the Taboo: Universities and Mental-Health Disabilities, 14 April 2011 – a workshop of the Constellation Leo project
  • Responsible Business and Disability: Loss or Gain?, 20–21 October 2011 - DARE 2 project
