About the Centre

The Jagiellonian University Accessibility Centre is a unit whose aim is to create conditions to ensure full accessibility for all students, employees and visitors to the Jagiellonian University, so that the physical environment, digital environment, organised processes and applied methods of operation do not constitute a reason for exclusion of anyone from study, work and other areas of life.

The JU Accessibility Centre carries out its tasks in cooperation with all the units of the University that are responsible for implementing accessibility within the framework of the competences entrusted to them. The Centre integrates activities for persons with specific needs, extending educational support, developing accessibility standards for workplaces and research, and promoting ideas of social responsibility and sustainable development.

The Accessibility Centre supports teams preparing for visits by the Polish Centre for Accreditation (PCA) in developing information on physical, digital and information and communication accessibility for the course of study being audited.  We also support teams with information on student statistics (number of students applying for accommodated education, number of students who have applied for scholarships for persons with disabilities). We also provide information on how such accommodations have been implemented and carried out. At the request of the teams, we participate in PCA meetings.

You are welcome to contact us in advance so that possible measures to improve the learning and working conditions can be put into practice.

You can read about the tasks of the Accessibility Centre in Article 2(2) of the Jagiellonian University Rector’s Ordinance of 22 February 2023 on the transformation of the Disability Support Service into the Jagiellonian University Accessibility Centre and amendment of the Jagiellonian University Organisational Rules.
