About the Accessibility Coordinator

The accessibility coordinator of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow is Dr (JU professor) Hubert Kaszyński. The Coordinator works closely with the JU Accessibility Centre in implementing the JU Accessibility Policy enshrined in the Jagiellonian University Rector’s Ordinance No. 20 of 22 February 2023.

The tasks of the Accessibility Coordinator include, in particular:

  1. taking actions of a systemic nature leading to increasing the accessibility of JU for persons with specific needs
  2. receiving information, requests and demands from individuals in relation to the regulations contained in the Accessibility Provision Act
  3. coordinating the process of developing accessibility standards at the Jagiellonian University
  4. liaising with all organisational units of the Jagiellonian University, including in particular the JU Promotion and Communication Centre, Educational Support Centre, Personal Affairs Centre, Safety and Equal Treatment Department, Building Investment Department, Repairs Department, International Cooperation Department, Public Procurement Department, Student Support and Adaptation Centre, and the Jagiellonian University of the Third Age, in order to implement the Jagiellonian University accessibility standards
  5. reporting on the provision of accessibility in accordance with the Digital Accessibility Provision Act in cooperation with the JU Accessibility Centre, the IT Centre and the organisational units subordinate to the JU Provost, including in particular the JU Promotion and Communication Centre
  6. supervising the activities of the JU Accessibility Centre and other organisational units of the JU in the scope resulting from the Accessibility Provision Act in order to conduct a coherent and long-term accessibility policy at the Jagiellonian University, taking into account the provisions of the Jagiellonian University Development Strategy until 2030
  7. coordinating the work of the following expert panels to carry out tasks resulting from the JU Accessibility Standards and to implement the requirements of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and national laws in the area of accessibility:
    1. expert panel on physical accessibility
    2. expert panel on digital accessibility
    3. expert panel on information and communication accessibility
    4. expert panel on education and research processes
    5. expert panel on accessibility of the working environment
    6. expert panel on social responsibility and sustainable development
  8. taking into account the results of the work of the expert panels by making the necessary corrections, in particular in procedures, programmes, syllabuses and contracts, and wherever there is discrimination against persons with disabilities or persons with specific needs, or where generally applicable law on accessibility is not complied with in any way.
